Cananga kirkii

Cananga kirkii is a compact shrub, growing to 3 m tall, with highly scented yellowish flowers, probably native to Thailand. However, it flowers much more profusely, and the flowers have curled petals. The flowers are used in the perfume industry. It can be grown in the garden or will do well in a container. It blooms profusely during the spring and summer months.

– Leaves simple, alternate 7-12 cm long, 3.8-6.0 cm wide, ovate or lanceolate, glabrous and wavy.
– Flowers solitary, greenish yellow on a long stalk, fragrant, with 6-7 long narrow petals, tips twisted.
– Grow well full sun or semi shade.
– Soil well drained and containing good organic matter.
– Likes high humidity – planting in lawns helps.
